The CSA model is a direct farm to family relationship. An early season investment entitles you to a weekly "share" of organically-grown produce, harvested at the peak of its flavor and nutrition. Each week during the growing season (typically early June through October), you'll receive a bountiful basket of veggies, both familiar favorites and new varieties you'll be excited to try. We'll include ideas for preparation and hope you'll share some of your recipes with us and other CSA members. Because your produce will be locally grown and freshly picked, you'll rediscover the joys of seasonal eating. The lettuce you enjoy in the evening may surprise your taste buds with its fresh taste, since it was cut only hours before.

Over the course of the season your basket with include combinations of the following:

Arugula, Beans, Beets, Berries, Bok Choi, Broccoli, Cabbage, Carrots, Chard, Corn, Cucumbers, Edible Flowers, Fresh Herbs, Fennel, Garlic, Kale, Lettuce, Leeks, Mixed Greens, Onions, Parsnips, Peas, Peppers, Potatoes, Pumpkins, Radishes, Scallions, Spinach, Summer Squash, Tomatoes, Winter Squash, Zucchini and more!

See below for examples of weekly shares!

CSA membership offers individuals and families the opportunity to reconnect with the land and the farmers who tend it, a relationship lost in the modern world of big box supermarkets. By joining the Morning Dew Farm CSA, you help to protect priceless Maine farmland and preserve an endangered way of life. In addition to receiving a wonderful variety of vegetables, you will be strengthening the local economy, the local community and eating with your health and the health of the environment in mind.

As a member of our CSA, you are a part of our farm. We welcome visitors, especially those who are interested in working with us! On the third Saturdays of the month during the CSA season, we offer Farm Field Days, a chance for members to enjoy the the fresh air and participate in cultivating the food they eat. While participation is not required, they promise to be fun time and a chance to get to know your CSA community!

How the CSA Program Works - Members buy “shares” of the farm, making an investment in the early spring, capital which helps us purchase seeds, fertilizer and equipment for the approaching season. In exchange, each member is entitled to a farmer-selected assortment of the freshest and most beautiful produce the fields have to offer, once a week from early June through the frosts of late October. Tender greens sprouting up mark the start of the growing season here in costal Maine. The first weeks include lettuces, spinach, arugula, chard, scallions, early peas and broccoli. The arrival of zucchini marks a transition, and soon after, beans, tomatoes, peppers, cukes and garlic will be available in abundance. As the daylight hours begin to wane in mid-September, hearty stock like potatoes, onions, kale and winter squash will fill your larders. Participating in the MDF CSA is certain to remind you of the joys of seasonal eating. Knowing that our produce will be going to your table enables us to put our best energy into the busy growing season!

Share Size - We offer one share size, which is designed to feed 2 adults with healthy appetites but will also suit families with children as well. We devote considerable attention to a succession planting which will allow for diversity in each weeks selection. Each week you will enjoy familiar favorites, and we will include a couple of delicious and unusual varieties as well. Included with your weekly veggie selection is a farm newsletter with updates on farm activities, produce profiles, and recipe ideas. Interested parties with smaller households may consider splitting a share with a friend. See Whats in a Share? for sample shares.

The cost of a share is $325 - Weather permitting; we anticipate an 18 week season. Over the course of the season we guarantee you will be satisfied with the value of produce offered and agree with our returning members that the CSA program is an excellent value for those who enjoy a diet rich in fresh, local vegetables.
